If you are interested in essential oils and do not want to pay the extra mark up, like me, you can become your OWN distributor and gain access to the member pricing of Young Living Essential Oils company. You'll receive 24% off retail as a member.
Here's what you do to receive the discount: Click on the picture below and use my number 2065677 to join as a member, with a sponsor.
I admit, I am not a fan of MLM's, which is what Young Living appears to be, but I do believe they have quality essential oils, which is what I wanted. Their oils are Certified Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.
I do not want to be bothered with selling oils for profit, only for my personal use. I joined Young Living as a distributor because I found it an economical choice. As a "distributor" you basically join the company as a membership, sort of like Sam's or Costco...you join and then have access to a discounted rate on your products and orders. Your membership stays active with a $50 purchase each calendar year.
The Starter Kits (one purchase is required for membership) range from $40-$150 in price.
I chose the Premium Starter Kit for $150 because I felt it was (and still is) a great bargain. This kit comes with what you see below...
Plus...
their diffuser - that is a $75 value alone.
That's it. That is all I am going to say about joining... it is up to you if you want to pay retail or receive the discount.
Now, here is some (book) information I find absolutely invaluable when it comes to essential oil use...
Essential Oils Pocket Reference 6th Edition
Gentle Babies: Essential Oils and Natural Remedies for Pregnancy, Childbirth, Infants and Young Children (5th Edition)
Healing Oils of the Bible, by David Stewart
If you have time (an hour and a half) this video, by Stacey Kimbrell, is excellent on 1st Aid And Emergency Kit using Young Living's Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.
And, read this post by, Madhupa Maypop, to give you a balanced understanding on essential oils and take note especially of the Cropwatch Threatened Species...I love having essential oils in my "arsenal" so to speak, but I also love the plants that produce the essential oils.
For beginners, this guide by Dr. Josh Axe will get you started...you can also browse his website for more interesting essential oil uses, or sign up on his email list for more free e-books that he offers.
Side Note:
Essential oils have a place in my medicine cabinet, but so do many other modalities. Education and discretion is always best until you know and are familiar with what you use for medicinal purposes. Young Living oils are advertised as safe for ingestion, but always do so with the utmost research first. I say to use with discretion because some holistic practitioners are seeing nervous system disruption-especially in very small/young children. Always err on the side of caution when you are approaching something new. Study, study, study!
